You have just found one of the best Colorado fly fishing resorts and cold water fisheries in the state, right here near Almont! Our private 3/4 of a mile of the Taylor River plus its tributaries has been said to be "twice the fishing at half the price" of the Frying Pan near Aspen for trout fishing. Colorado trout fishing ; the grand slam every day! No crowds and no guides required. Our fee to fish per person is $100 for a full day, $75 for a half day, or FREE if you are a guest of Harmel's. Come to enjoy our beautiful scenery and the wily trout; stay to enjoy our comfortable accommodations, great food and friendly staff!
Harmel's Ranch Resort trophy fishery is known as "Rainbow Heaven". Fed by high mountain lakes, (Taylor and Spring Creek Reservoirs), Harmel's gold medal quality waters are at the confluence of Spring Creek, Beaver Creek, and the famous Taylor River. Just downstream from Harmel's Ranch Resort the Taylor meets the East River to form the mighty Gunnison River and Blue Mesa Reservoir, the largest lake in Colorado. Let Harmel's Colorado fly fishing guides teach you the ins & outs of trout fishing. Our Colorado trout fishing guides are courteous and knowledgeable, ready to help you with all of your fly fishing needs.
We would love to say that this stretch of the Taylor has actually been designated Gold Medal by the Colorado Wildlife Commission, but it has not - yet. We are working to preserve this pristine fishing habitat by getting the "Gold Medal" signature. When the Taylor River was tested a few years back, we were told that the entire Taylor River was at least four times gold medal and our 3/4 of a mile stretch was over ten times! Our stocking program consists of stategically placing 100 trophy sized rainbows (trophy size would be two to three pound trout) on the first of the month in June, July and August in our stretch. This ensures great fishing all summer long. So come out and wet a line to see what all the hub-bub is about - you'll be happy you did!

To get to our fantastic Colorado fly fishing resort just go seven miles east of Almont (north of Gunnison and south of Crested Butte) on County Road 742. For more detailed driving directions click here. At an altitude of approximately 8,300 feet and surrounded by the 1.6 million acres Gunnison National Forest, Harmel's has posted private rivers, streams, beaver ponds, and a stocked "kids pond" to choose from. We catch BIG FISH; rainbows, browns, brookies, cutthroat, and stealhead hybrids all right out your cabin door.
If you are interested in learning and experiencing some of the best Colorado trout fishing you've gotta come to Harmel's Ranch Resort!
